The root of the problem for almost 30 years has started with the front office. The way the Joneses have conducted business the same way for almost 30 years is the reason why the COWBOYS haven't came closed of sniffing a SB. I haven't respected the front office since they fired Jimmy Johnson and they have continue to get a pass with no accountability. This is not defending Prescott at all because he has failed in the post season but so has Tony Romo and every other QB for the COWBOYS since 96 has failed but the JONESES have and will continue to get a pass. Just getting another QB is not going to changed the way JONESES conduct business or make the COWBOYS any better except profiting.

You are missing the most important part of this argument. Its not just about if Prescott is a good QB or not. You say he is not the only one and that they need to surround him with a better team. Thats the real point. Thats something they just can not do because with an extension he will eat up too much cap space. They were not able to do that with his far lesser present salary. Bu that I am not even referring to his 40 mil a year, but what he actually cost them so far each year. By that I mean the cost of his contract that was pushed into a dead cap that will still be owed weather he is with the team or not in 2025. If they could not surround him with a team good enough with his far lesser past salary, doing so with his projected extension will be impossible. Why is that so difficult to understand? The team just can not afford a big cap hit that an exention would cost them. Sooner of alter they will have to pay for their pushing cap money into the future. It is in their best interest to take the dead cap hit next season and clear the books so that they can begin anew. This is something that an extension will not allow them to do. Rather it will lock them into Dak for the future with the debt compounding as they will do the same thing and push not only the presently owed dead cap hit into the future, but also Daks increasd salary as well.
